Max’s Bar Mitzvah (March 24, 2012)
// March 25th, 2012 // No Comments » // Bar Mitzvah
DJ Dev and myself had the pleasure of being a part of Max’s Bar Mitzvah in March which was held at Party Pals in Sorrento Valley. We worked alongside coordinator Roxi Link of The Party Link and photographer Alon David to make this night an amazing one. We did all black lighting to give the whole place an awesome neon glow and along with the games inside and outside of the tent, we had great adult/kid line and group dances all night long. Toward the end of the night, DJ Dev even showed off his Michael Jackson dance skills. It was an unforgettable evening and we were so lucky to have shared that occasion with Max and his family. Please enjoy the highlight video and photos below!

What an awesome time we had celebrating Alexandra’s Bat Mitzvah with her dad Dave, mom Brandy and all of their friends and family. The celebration was held at Congregation Beth Israel and was filled with music, dancing, games and a fun Horah to kick off the afternoon. Alexandra and her guests definitely came to party and we want to thank her and her family for letting us be a part of their special day!

Our last Bar Mitzvah of 2011 was a blast! We got the chance to party with Dan Benaroch and his family for his Bar Mitzvah held at the Palacio Del Mar Recreation Center. Dan and his friends partied and played games all night long and our two dancers Dev and Joey Mac helped to keep the dance floor moving the entire night. Shayna’s Bat Mitzvah (July 23, 2011)
// July 26th, 2011 // No Comments » // Bat Mitzvah
This past Saturday was a very special day for the Berozofsky Family. It was Shayna’s Bat Mitzvah and it was held at the beautiful Lawrence Welk Resort at the Canyon Grille. Shayna’s love for Glee, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and the color purple was well represented with her VIP table for her friends having a Glee-themed centerpiece complete with gorgeous purple flowers at every table. The party started by Shayna’s guests forming a human arch to welcome her in, escorted by dancer Joey Mac. We then went into the Horah followed by a few fun games. After dinner it was time for candle lighting and Shayna did an amazing job honoring all of her friends and family, many of whom came from as far as Canada to celebrate with her. One of the highlights of the event was our custom game “Generation Gap” where we pit the adults against Shayna and her friends, followed by me showing off some of my Michael Jackson dance moves. Rabbi Bryan even got in on the fun and danced for most of the evening. We ended the night by putting Shayna in the middle of the dance floor with her friends circled around her singing “Firework” by Katy Perry to her to show their appreciation for being a part of her special night. On behalf of Joey Mac, I want to thank Ellen, Mitch, Shane and most importantly Shayna for letting us be a part of her celebration. We had so much fun and we look forward to performing at some of the upcoming celebrations of some of Shayna’s guests! – DJ Dev
Rachael’s Bat Mitzvah (April 9, 2011)
// April 10th, 2011 // No Comments » // Bat Mitzvah
My good friend Jerry Beck of Beck’s Entertainment gave me the opportunity to co-DJ/MC Rachael’s Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, April 9, 2011. When he told me about the event, I was stoked and even more excited to find out that it was being held at The Hyde Lounge in Mammoth Lakes, CA. After a 7-hour drive, we all arrived and began setting up for Rachael’s special day which began with a mock wedding for Rachael’s grandparents to commemorate their anniversary. Then the party started with Top 40, Oldies and line dances. Jerry taught a special dance to the guests which he dubbed “Rachael’s Dance” and I made up a dance on the spot to “Bad Romance” by Lady GaGa which was a huge hit. Later in the evening, our dancer Dev taught the guests how to Dougie alongside Rachael who held her own next to Dev. We all had a blast and on behalf of Beck’s Entertainment, we want to thank Rachael and her family for letting us be a part of this amazing celebration. Please enjoy the candid photos and video below from Rachael’s Bat Mitzvah!
Maya’s Bat Mitzvah (March 12, 2011)
// March 13th, 2011 // No Comments » // Bat Mitzvah
I have been working closely with Maya Haness and her parents Brenda and Philip for months in preparation for Maya’s “Broadway Red Carpet” Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, March 12th. Maya, who absolutely loves Broadway musicals, decided on a “Broadway Red Carpet” theme for her special day, held in the Catalina Room at Marina Village. The room was decorated with large posters from a few Broadway musicals and Maya’s “Playbill” sign-in board was at the front door. The tables were named after popular Broadway musicals and were decorated with the help of the staff at Marina Village and the Haness family.
For her grand introduction, Maya was carried in on her friends back to the Merry Melodies theme song and once she was placed back on the ground it was time for the Horah followed by Motzi and Kiddish. After Maya’s friends ate dinner, we played some dance music for them and then did two rounds of Scavenger Hunt. I then got the adults out on the floor for a “Bohemian Rhapsody” sing-a-long and a few more dance songs. Maya did an excellent job with her candle lighting ceremony and after wards performed “Put It In The Piggy” from the musical Dear Edwina along with her friends. A little later Maya shared a daddy/daughter dance with her dad Philip with the other daddies and daughters being invited on to the floor as well. We ended the night by getting everyone on the floor for “Generation Gap” and “Time Warp.” The night ended with me having Maya, Brenda and Philip get in the middle of the dance floor and having everyone sing “Don’t Stop Believin’” to them which ended the evening on a high note.
I absolutely enjoyed being a part of this special day with Maya and her family and friends (including some other familiar faces from past Bar/Bat Mitzvahs) and I thank the Haness family for including me. Please enjoy the photos (taken by Matt Kriegsfeld of J. Soul Photography) and video compilation I put together.
J,
Thank you for the link. We really appreciated your performance at the bat mitzvah. I even saw a tag on your picture on one of maya’s facebook friends that read, “best DJ ever”. In that there were 8 more events within our group represented this year I am sure you will get more work as a result.
Thanks again.

Matzah Ball 2011 (January 22, 2011)
// January 23rd, 2011 // No Comments » // Other
DJ Dev had the honor of DJing the Matzah Ball which was a giant combined dance of four youth groups: BITY, OLIM, SANETY, and TASTY-SOUTH and guests were from here in San Diego as well as Los Angeles. It was held at Congregation Beth Israel in La Jolla and along with Dev, one of our dancers Joey Mac was in attendance to help hype up the crowd. The staff at Congregation Beth Israel provided lighting and a fog machine and we provided sound along with one of our custom DJ facades with LED back-lighting and an LED Bar black light to make the dance floor glow. DJ Dev played a variety of music including Hip Hop, Top 40, Electro, Throwbacks, line dances and even a little bit of Dubstep which allowed Joey Mac to show off his amazing dance skills. The crowd was full of energy and we all had a blast being a part of this awesome event. We’re looking forward to coming back next year for Matzah Ball 2012!

Alivia Shaw’s Bat Mitzvah (October 23, 2010)
// October 23rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Bat Mitzvah
I had a great time at Alivia’s Bat Mitzvah on Saturday DJing and MCing for her family and friends. The party was held at the beautiful home of John and Susan Wintersteen and from the moment Alivia’s friends arrived, they were ready to dance and have a great time. I took a few pictures of my set up and the great job the Wintersteen family did decorating for Alivia…
The party kicked off and I played requests from Alivia’s eclectic request list as well as the newest and hottest Top 40 hits and took requests from Alivia’s guests. A couple of them even came up and asked to take a picture with me…
The evening was filled with personal tributes to Alivia from her friends, her sister (who surprised Alivia with tickets to see Justin Bieber) and Alivia’s brother David ending the night singing “Jesus Take The Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. I want to thank Alivia and her family for the opportunity to share in her special day and I can’t wait to return in December for John and Susan’s daughter’s Sweet 16 party. I also can’t wait to see David and his girlfriend Alexandra at the Parker/Country Day/Bishops Tri-School dance in February! Congratulations, Alivia!

CLIENT FEEDBACK
Hi J!!!
Wow, what a great job you did. Thank you so much from our whole family. Alivia had the time of her life and it looked like a lot of the other kids did too. Love the photo!
My friends are John and Susan Wintersteen. Susan told me that she hired you for an event in December. That’s great.
I will be sure to tell David and Alexandra that you’ll see them in February.
Thank you again!

Sarah Bonavich’s Bat Mitzvah (October 9, 2010)
// October 10th, 2010 // No Comments » // Bat Mitzvah
Sarah Bonavich and her family put on one of the most high energy Bat Mitzvahs that I have ever attended. The party was held at the Sheraton West and in conjunction with ZG Productions and the staff from Mitzvah Event Productions. The event started with a cocktail hour out on the deck and then it was time for Sarah’s grand entrance. She decided to enter to “Tik Tok” by Ke$ha because after all, the party don’t start ’til Sarah walks in! We then went directly into the Hora followed by Motzi with Sarah and her sister Jessica. After dinner, we played “Huggy Bear” with Sarah and all of her friends and then danced a while to some of today’s top hits. Soon it was time for Sarah’s candle lighting ceremony and what an entertaining candle lighting it was. Before we went back into the dancing, Sarah shared a special dance with her dad Peter to Billie Holiday‘s “As Time Goes By.” I then invited all of the adults onto the floor to play “Generation Gap” and it was a full out dance party from that point on. My party pumper/dancer Dev even wowed the guests with his Michael Jackson dance moves. It was a beautiful event and on behalf of myself and Dev, we’d like to thank the Bonavich family (especially Sarah) for an amazing night. Mazel Tov!
